Daycare Centre Chikulupiro Tete
The Chikulupiro Centre is located in the city and province of Tete, approximately 1,600 km from Maputo. The CPS Sisters have maintained a community there for many years, serving some of the most vulnerable elderly people - many of whom came to the convent seeking help, often visually impaired or without family support.
They observed that these elderly individuals were accompanied by small children who should have been in school but were forced to beg or work. In response the centre was founded in 2006 to offer these children a safe environment, daily meals, educational support and a path toward a better future.
Chikulupiro Tete supports 120 children between 3-21 years and 25 elderly or blind caregivers. The centre plays a unique dual role: protecting children while helping elderly caretakers preserve dignity without placing children at risk.
